Through Saturday, HP General use paper is on sale for $4.99 with a $3.99 rebate. There's a limit of 2 per household.

There's also a coupon on their website for 15% off all in-store purchases (excluding computers). Use that with the paper and get the 2, 500 sheet reams for $8.48.

Submit the rebate and get a check for $7.98.

Total of two reams of paper for $.50!!!!

A great Wags trip

Today I went to Wags to cash in my $40 in RRs from the Huggies deal last week. I was at Walgreens so much last week that I didn't even open my ad until today! But I was still able to get an awesome deal - and only spent $1.29 oop.

8 Dove Bath Bars @ $1.04 ($8.32) (I'm kicking myself because I had a rain check for 4@$.99)
1 Walgreens Extra Strength Headache 20 ct capsules @ $2.99
1 Iceland Memory Formula @ $19.99
1 Sony Hi8 8mm 2 pack of tapes @ $9.99

Total $41.29

- 4 $10 RRs

$1.29 oop

PLUS

The 8 Dove at $8.32 got me a $10 RR, the Memory formula is a FAR (and the last one on the shelf - they've been out for awhile) - $21.99, and the Wags Excedrine stuff was also FAR - $3.29.

So I paid $1.29 and got a $10 RR and submitted rebates for $25.28. Not bad!

I had a great trip at Walmart yesterday, too... I'll have to get that up here in the next day or so.

Sambucol and This week at Wags

I have been having an awesome time shopping Walgreens last week - and this week appears to be the same way... but better!

Last week, I went after the Sambucol deal. It didn't appear that anyone else in town had been doing it. The first time I picked up two of them along with diapers and a few things on clearance. My Walgreens had it on sale for $11.99 - so after both coupons, I received a $2.01 overage.

The next time I went back later in the week, I got 4 boxes of Sambucol (there were 5 left after my first trip - so I still left one on the shelf), a 6 pack of Ensure (on sale for $6.99, I had a $3/1 coupon, and a "try me free" full-price rebate), and a bottle of the Axe shampoo that's in this month's ESRs as a FAR deal. I paid $1.76 (I think - from memory, but I know under $2) and I'm getting $13.58 in rebates. I was hoping to hit the Dove RR deal, but they were out of the soap. I did pick up a rain check as this is a deal all month.

However, after getting home I realized that I forgot to pick up a rain check for the Walgreen's diapers. So after the kids were in bed, I headed back and picked up the last box of Sambucol and 4 boxes of the plastic storage bags that were on sale for $.99... for one more hour. I paid $1.95.

The best part... the Sambucol deal is on ALL MONTH LONG. Though, if I know my Wags, they will change the rules on that one, too, like they did the freebies this week...

Today started the great week of freebies at Walgreens. Garnier Fructis shampoo is on sale for $2.99. There's a $2/1 ESR coupon, and there have been an abundance of $1/1 coupons lately. Combine them - and a filler - and you have some free shampoo! There's also Colgate Total toothpaste on sale for $3.49, $2.50 ESR, and $1/1 and $1.50/1 internet coupons abound (the $1.50/1 are .pdf coupons that can be printed as often as you'd like - like the Sambucol coupon).

I had 5 coupons for shampoo and 2 for styling products. I had all 7 (different kinds) in my cart - the shelves were still VERY full. I also had 3 boxes of Total and a Dry Idea deodorant (more later). One of my friendly cashiers saw me and told me to go put it back before I got up to the register - they had been told to refuse to sell more than one Garnier or toothpaste per person per trip - not just transaction - because "that's what the coupon says." But, that's not what the coupon says. The coupon says limit one item per coupon. So I should be able to collect 5 booklets with 5 (total) coupons and buy 5 bottles of shampoo... but no dice. This store has been big on changing coupon rules lately (which is why I think the Sambucol deal will be going down). So another one of my friendly cashiers let me do 2 transactions... and I promised to be back many times this week. Here's what I got:

GF Shampoo $2.99
Colgate TP $3.49
Dry Idea Gel deodorant $1.69 (on clearance)

IVCs (that's the coupons in the ESR catalog):
GF -$2.00
Colgate -$2.50

Coupons:
GF -$1.00
Colgate -$1.50

Paid $1.17 off my gift card

Received $2 RR for the Dry Idea. There's a $2 register reward when you buy the Dry Idea and (I think) Rite Guard deodorants this week at $2.99 - but these were on clearance. There was still one left, so I'll do that again tomorrow if it's still there).

Lather, rinse, repeat for a second order (this time with GF smoothing milk instead of the shampoo) =)

$0 oop and $4 in RR!

There's also a GREAT deal going on Huggies diapers and wipes this week, but only in the smaller sizes. I have pregnant friends, so I may get in on that deal as well. More info on that is available HERE with thanks to Money Saving Mom.

I have a few other surprising deals from last week to share, but I'll have to do that another night as my body is screaming for sleep. I wanted to get these up here now, though, as these sales are still going. So if they're helpful to you... have at it!

Cheap Triaminic

Walgreens had the Triaminic Thin Strips on sale 2 for $10. I printed out some $1.50 off each coupons, bringing the total for those down to $7.00. There's a rebate this month for $6 off two Triminic or Theraflu products ($6.60 with 10% gift card bonus).

I just got two box of Triminic thin strips for $.40 =)

How I saved $239.97 and earned $10

I wish I would have seen this earlier than 2 hours ago because I would have posted it for others. The Bayer Contour Blood Sugar Monitors were on sale at Rite Aid for $14.99. I had 3 coupons from a few weeks back for up to $30 off each monitor, limit one per person per transaction... so I brought my kids with me for the other purchases (though she let me use all three). Then Rite Aid has a rebate this month where you purchase 3 of any of a handful of heart-protecting products and you get a $10 Rite Aid gift card in the mail. You got it - this monitor was on the list.

So, the monitors retail for $79.99 each ($239.97). They were on sale under the coupon limit - so I paid nothing out of pocket. And I'm submitting my receipt for the $10 gift card.

To make the deal sweeter, I'll be donating these monitors to some organization that needs them - a homeless shelter, woman's shelter, food pantry, etc - which will be a tax break for us next year =)

2008 in review

Since I just started this new lifestyle in August, I didn't do as well as I had hoped. My goal was one rent payment... and I fell about $20 short of that. Here's the breakdown that used to be on the side:

Money Back in My Pocket in 2008

* Walgreens (110%) - $391.60
* Rite Aid - $176.15
* Staples - $232.99
* Manufacturer's Rebates - $172.72
* Gift cards (Rx, points, etc) - $91.00
* TOTAL - $1075.42

As stated in the last post, I can't promise that I'll be able to update as much as I'd like. But I'm going to try and keep a running total not only on rebates in 2009, but also on how much I've saved using coupons. I haven't figured out if I'm going to do this on some paper in the coupon box or keep a running text message draft, but we'll see what I can do - and I'll update as time allows. I know that $1075 is impressive - but I also know that I probably saved about 2-3 times that in coupons last year as well. This year, I want to see it in print - something to keep me going when it all gets a bit overwhelming.

Also, speaking of coupons, one source (that I can't recall... looking for it now, actually) said that there could be up to FIVE coupon inserts in this Sunday's paper. That's HUGE! If the coupons appear to be good ones for our family, I may end up buying an extra paper (I always purchase 2 if there are coupons inside, and a family from church gives me theirs as well). What a great way to rebuild the stash (since most expired on 12/31)!

Little goodies along the way

How about $1.50/1 Yoplait Kids yogurt?

Speaking of yogurt, I found a great deal at Safeway the other day. I am so NOT above hitting the clearance bins for meat and dairy near/at their sell-by date. I found 7 cups of Danon Light and Fit yogurt with the $.50 off your purchase stickers. There were a ton more there with the same date but without the stickers (they had been sticking just about everything in the dairy case, it seemed), so I asked an employee if I could get stickers for 3 more of the cups. He said the guys who did that were gone for the day, but if I asked the cashier he'd probably do it. So I got a total of 10, found one of my two favorite cashiers, asked nicely... and he did! Here was the breakdown:

Not sure their regular price
On sale for $.90 each
With club card $.70 each
With quick-sell sticker $.20
$1/10 Q - $.10 each!

I did something similar with 2 of the 4 packs of one of those digestive health yogurts.

We also got a BEAUTIFUL 2.5 pound beef roast for 50% off (about $7) by hitting the meat clearance section.

I have another great rebate that I want to share, but I'll admit that the wording on it has me kinda scared of posting anything about the deal. Help me decide...

This offer may not be published in any refunding magazine, website, or elsewhere without [brand name]'s written permission.

I happened upon the tearpads for this rebate at one of my regular stores a few months ago and have been holding on to the three of them (limit 3 per household) for forever until I could make the best deal possible with them. I'm ready to send them in, but it can take up to TEN weeks to get the check(s) in the mail! Let's just say that these rebates for this unnamed product will end up making us $7.05 on top of recouping what we've spent!

Final great deal is a free children's book from Kellogg's - they have a thing going right now (until they run out) where you send in two tokens from certain products (ours are from the double boxes of pop tarts) and you get a free kids' book. We choose Marsupial Sue by John Lithgow and there are 4 others to choose from. You can also buy additional books (the free offer is limit one per household) for only $5 - and that $5 goes to the Kellogg's United Through Reading program to help deployed service members read books on dvd for their kids back home. Click HERE for more information.

On a maintenance note, my posts here will be sporadic at best in the coming weeks. If I hit a great deal and have enough time to get in and tell you about it so you can join in, too, you bet I will. But we have company coming this weekend for my daughter's birthday, as well as overnight company coming for Thanksgiving... so I'm trying to spend lots of time getting this place whipped into shape and lots of clutter given to Goodwill for others to enjoy =)

Rite Aid Sunday and Wags Monday

Only one thing at RA this week (so far - we don't get the ads until Tuesday, and I don't like trying to page through them online). We got one of the coupons for the Digital TV converter boxes from the government (dtv2009.gov). We currently have digital cable, but we aren't sure that we'll be able to keep it, so I figured better safe than sorry. RA has had the boxes for months, but they were always still $20 after the coupon/card for them. Last week, though, they were selling them for $40 - or $0 after the card. So, that's when I got ours. Geof's going to call the company tomorrow, though, because according to the box it should have a universal remote in it and it has the other kind of remote (dedicated?) instead.

In talking to my lovely SM at Wags today, I revised my shopping trip and took full advantage of the RRs I had (and received).

1
Grape Pedialyte $4.50
Citrus Pedialyte $4.50
York Mints $.99
Sunbeam Cuddle-Up Throw $34.99
$44.98
-$10 RR
-$5 RR
-$5 RR
-$4.50 RR
Total $20.48 (off the gift card)
Received $5 RR for throw and $2 RR for Pedialyte, and throw has a $5 MIR

2
5 Cases Dr. Pepper $11.00
Bottle deposits $3.00
$14
-$5 RR
-$2 RR
Total $7 (off the gift card)
Will receive the $3 in deposits back

5 12-packs of Dr. Pepper for $4. That's less than $.07 a can! And it will tide G over until a good sale on Coke at Safeway... =)

My $5/$20 deals

Okay. While I've been in a mad search for my Zout receipt (I can't believe I lost the one receipt from that day that I actually NEED), I figured I had better do my deals post now before I forget (and upload my ESRs to Wags immediately!).

Nutra Air Kit $5.99
Mushrooms $1.29
Mushrooms $1.29
Mushrooms $1.29
Mushrooms $1.29
L'Oreal Pro Calcium $19.99
Oral B Cross Action Tooth Brush $4.49
$35.63
-$4.00 Nutra Air
-$2.00 L'Oreal
-$5.00 RR
-$1.00 Oral B
-$3.16 Wags Mushroom Q
-$5/$20 Q
$15.47
Received $4.50 RR and $25.29 110% ESR

Christmas Wrap $1.99
Christmas Wrap $1.01
Christmas Wrap $1.50
Christmas Wrap $1.50
5.2 oz caramels $.49
5.2 oz caramels $.49
380 500 Q-Tip bonus pack $2.00
Play doctor kit $6.99
Play kitchen kit (mixer) $6.99
Play kitchen kit (toaster) $0.00 (their $6.99 toys are B2G1)
Princess Tea Set $9.99
$32.95
-$2.04 Wags Wrapping Paper Q (brought each down to $.99)
-$.30 Q-Tips Q
-$10.00 RR
-$5/$20 Q
$15.61

I know I've said before that I don't like to double claim my savings - saying "it's like I paid" and then tell you "but since I used my gift card and RR I didn't pay anything OOP." My bold totals above are what came off the gift cards (So, I really DIDN'T pay anything OOP!) But, I have to do the money out/money back report at least with this deal...

Money Out $31.08
Money Back $29.79

That's only $1.29 that I didn't recoup!

(And in the interest of transparency, the toaster is going back. It doesn't finish it's little timer without having to force it - and I'm SO not going to deal with "Mama... fix it!" over and over for the next few years. I think I'll replace it with the play tool belt... or the knock off My Little Ponies since they both really like my two from growing up.)

So it really was a good trip - even with my disappointing news from earlier. I'm now really debating whether I want to still get the foot warmer and sunbeam throw this week (they were going to by freebie birthday/Christmas gifts for me from my husband... yes, I was going to buy them, but he was on board). I really think I'd use the foot warmer a lot. Even right now, I'm sitting here at the computer and my feet are numb from cold (G and I are totally different when it comes to nighttime temperature - I've got the electric blanket on my side of the bed, he's sleeping next to the open window!). The throw was meant to replace mine that is already over 10 years old. I don't know.

What I'm actually kicking myself on... the digital frame. I've wanted one of those for 3 years now. They were $69.99 - $10 RR - $5/20 - $22 ESR (110%) would have brought it down to $32. Granted, though, I can't really afford to be springing for that right now - even with the gift card - so it was smart to skip it. But still...

My Wags Scenarios

Okay - tomorrow is another $5/$20 (YAY!!! Not $25!!!) at Wags. Qs are available on Wags site, but also any site with coupons.com coupons (personally, I'd encourage you to get your coupon HERE as HCW provides me with many of my great deals and sneak peaks!)

These are mine, and they're scenarios that I'm doing mostly on my own (the only assistance was in learning that the Oral B RR deal is still going on). If I have a nice cashier, I may up the mushrooms in each order to all 4 possible for the coupon as we used our last cans yesterday.

I have to get back to my paying-work, so please forgive me for not putting my coupons on here and where they're from this week. The prices I list are the prices after coupon - I can explain tomorrow if people want to know more... and will for sure with my receipts.

Scenarios:
1

Starting out the new week

This week's biggest deal for me personally will be the buy 3 Dimetap and get $10 RR. Dimetap are $3.99 on sale this week - and you can print as many $2/1 coupons as your little heart desires here. Basic math makes this $5.97 out of pocket and $10 back or a $4.03 profit one each set of three. I plan to do this a couple times and save the RR for another deal in a couple weeks.

I did pick up the Arm & Hammer laundry detergent. On sale for $2.99, $1/1 here and $1 ESR - bringing it down to $.99 for a bottle of detergent. I've heard some good things about this stuff - maybe this will be what finally cures our cloth diaper woes!

I had a little snafu with insurance about one of my prescriptions, so I know I'll be back at Walgreens tomorrow. But here was today's summary:

Arm & Hammer $2.99
Dimetap $3.99
Dimetap $3.99
Dimetap $3.99
-$1
-$2
-$2
-$2

Total $7.96
Received $10 RR and $1.10 ESR (110%)

Everything was in stock!!!!

Everything was there, and one of the products (the Pediatric Sinus Rinse) had an additional $1.00 off NOW coupon on it! There was a $1.50 rebate coupon attached to my Sucrets, but it's good well into 2009 and I have a $2.00 rebate on that one for now. So, I'll hang on to that one. Also, the BOGO on the throat coolers was only up to $2.50 and mine were $2.99. But, seriously, $.49 for a second box - I'm FINE with that!

This was such a great deal because not only will things come back FAR, but the out of pocket up front was so much lower because most of them were on sale, too. I don't usually do the regular price/sale price listing, but for this deal I really want to. If nothing else, just another reminder of how God has blessed us in a time when money is tight. And I'm thankful.

My second home

Since I'm submitting this for a weekly wind-up, here's the links to all of my Walgreens trips for the week:
MamaOnABudget: I'm on a Walgreens HIGH!
MamaOnABudget: This is becoming my go-to store

I went back to Walgreens today and had the price corrected on the toilet gels (they were, in fact, $.50 less than what they rang up - giving me $1 back). I've never returned an ESR item (or two) before, so I'm not sure how that's going to work... since it had already been approved. I think I'll just enter the new receipt with the two of them on there for the correct price and hope that covers my bases. Otherwise - I'll just give them a call.

Also got the Halloween candy with the sale, coupon and ESR mentioned in the last post.

I really do have a great Walgreens!

Time to ready the medicine cabinets!

Rite Aid has 30 different products for cold and flu season FREE AFTER REBATE this week! If free isn't good enough for you, I've also found some additional coupons that I'll be using at my RA tomorrow. Many were from this post by Money Saving Mom, but a few I hunted out on my own (as you'll see in the comment section of her post).

I admit it - I'm not in RA often enough yet to know the layout of the store, so I made the decision to go there this week simply to case out where the items for this sale are located. I even made notes in my rebate booklet =) So I've got my "map" drawn up, and I'm heading there as soon as they open tomorrow (8 AM) to get my products for this rebate. I'm doubly excited that my $10 RA gift card arrived this week - so that will be even less out of pocket!

Here's my list:
NeilMed Nasalflo Neti Pot--$10.99
There's a $3/1 printable here
Free plus $3 overage

NeilMed Sinus Rinse Starter--$4.99
There's a $3/1 printable MIR here
(This MIR only needs a copy of the receipt - so I can keep it with the other purchases)
Free plus $3 overage

This is becoming my go-to store

I really didn't feel like leaving the house today. It may not seem that way from this blog, but I really do not like to go shopping. I'm a homebody - I'd rather be home with my family and taking care of things here than out and about... especially E-V-E-R-Y day. But that last post... I knew I had to get there today or tomorrow to get the rest of the things on the list for the rebate while they were on sale. So, my incredibly awesome husband offered to get whatever I needed at Walgreens if I made him a list.

And he did good!

Scrubbing Bubbles Shower Cleaner Kit $19.99
Shout Wipes $2.50
Gator Bite mints $.99 (they weren't on the list, but I cut him some slack =) )
Scrubbing Bubbles Toilet Brush Max Kit $3.99
Windex $2.50
Scrubbing Bubbles Toilet Gel $4.49 (this should have been $3.99 - and it was wrong last time, too...)
Subtotal: $34.46

Coupons
-$1.50 Shout product
-$2.00 Toilet Gels
-$2.00 Toilet Brush Max
-$2.00 Windex
-$10.00 Automatic Shower Cleaner

Total: $16.96
(110% ESRs for $16.50)

If I can get that toilet gels thing corrected (the ad says they're on sale - I thought the tag in the store did as well), we'll make $.04 on this deal. But even without, we did really, really well.

(Edit - I did get it price corrected on 10/11, so we were paid $.04 to shop there today!)

I tried to find the coupon I had for Halloween candy before G left, but I didn't until he was already gone. So I will be heading out one more time tomorrow. Hershey's funsize candies are part of the big sale this week that will break down like this for us:
Sale - $10/4
ESR (110%) - $4/4(.40)
2 coupons for $1/2
$1 ($.90) each bag!

We're in a new area for Halloween this year (actually, we weren't even here for Halloween last year as we were out of town for a funeral). So we have NO idea if we'll get a lot of kids or not. There are a ton of vacation rentals around us, so I have a feeling that it will be a slow area here in favor of the year-round homes on the east side of town. But I don't want to be caught empty treat-bowled =)

So ONE more post tomorrow. Then, I'm pretty sure, I'll even be able to send in my ESR after that (though I may just wait until the end of the month... just in case).
