Cheap Pizza

Wags is SO my dominant store - can you tell?

This week they have Red Baron pizzas on sale $5/2 (limit 4). Red Baron currently has a promotion where you enter codes from specially marked boxes to try to win Wii systems and games/accessories. If you don't have a code, you can go to redbaronpromotions.com and get a free code sent to your inbox once a day.

What does this have to do with the sale?

If you DON'T win a Wii prize, you get a coupon for $1 off a pizza - and I was able to print mine twice. You can only sign up one email address per person, but my hubby is signed up, too (though we had issues with the code they sent him today). That's 4, $1/1 coupons in a day if that works out - and 4 pizzas at $1.50 each!

I picked up my first 2 today. I can't have it (have I mentioned before that I have celiac disease and can't do gluten?), but my kids and hubby can - and do they ever love pizza. And since Red Baron is their brand of choice, this is a great stock-up week for us.

And the employees thought they saw me a lot before! Mwahahahaha!!!!

EDIT - Nevermind - even though I entered my codes today, I was told that the print limit has been reached. Bummer. Well, at least I got two cheap pizzas out of the deal - and I'll get two more if we ever get my husband's code to work.

I have celiac too! Bummer isn't it?

It is and it isn't. It is in the fact that you can't eat just "anything" like before - you have to read ev-er-y syllable on labels to make sure it's okay... and GF products that are normally wheat (pasta, waffles, flours, tortillas) are SO expensive (though, I've learned, the difference is tax deductible!).

It isn't in that I feel SO MUCH BETTER than I did before we knew what was wrong. This past year I was diagnosed with celiac (around 1/1) and crohn's (just 2 weeks ago), so I've had a rather intestinally uncomfortable year. But now that I'm getting the hang of things and G is really good about trying old recipes with new flours (mostly brown rice and sorghum), I really don't mind it too much or too often. Though I do admit to wanting to say to heck with it when I made the fam some beer bread last week =)

How long have you been GF?

I don't comment much, but I read all the posts and really appreciate all the info! Thanks Gen!

They figured out my celiac issues in April of this past year. I felt better at the start of a gluten free diet but then started having trouble again. I had a few gall bladder attacks and now seem to be on the mend. It is amazing how expensive everything is. Especially since about 1 in 133 people have gluten issues. Did you know that Rice Chex are now gluten free?

Jenn - you're welcome!

Rebekah - YES! We are getting WIC right now, and that's one of the available cereals. We use it for breading things, as bread crumbs for meat loaf... and for cereal!

I don't know if you're over at livejournal at all, but there's a great community there for celiacs where I have learned a LOT.

Most of those posts are public, some are friends-only (you need to be logged in to read them). But they have been SUPER helpful to me as I've been navigating this new way of eating for the last year. Plus, that's where I got the best pizza recipe I've tried yet!

Thanks for the recipe! I'll have to try it soon. I sure hope you start feeling better soon!
